From June 20th through the 27th, Compassion Week will consist of families signing up for one hour time slots to go out into the community and serve in one or more of the mission opportunities that have been prearranged for you. The mission opportunities will take place on Saturday 20th and 27th between the hours of 10a.m. and 2p.m. There will be several opportunities each day for you to choose from. Some examples are:
- Prayer Walk – small groups walk through neighborhoods near the church and pray for the families that live in the houses in those neighborhoods.
- Food Giant Cookout – Serving Food Giant customers free hotdogs and drinks.
- Bottled Water Giveaway – Taking a cooler of bottled water to local parks and handing out free water and telling people “God loves you.”
- Free Car Wash – Hand out quarters as people wash their cars at the local car wash in Reidland.
These are just a few examples of the ideas we have planned so we can go out into the church community and share the love of God with others. This is a “rubber meets the road” opportunity. What an impact we can make as parents upon our children by putting feet to our faith and being an example! Unsuspecting people will be wondering and asking “Why are you doing this?” and we can simply say, “Because God loves you and so do we.”
